Best Tesla in Belgium in 2026

In brief

  • Winner: Model 3 Premium Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, €44,990, 578 real km and 12.6 kWh/100 km, the best figures in the whole range
  • Best Tesla for a family: Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive at €39,990, 854 L boot, 1,600 kg towing and the benefit-in-kind floor
  • Three versions out of eight pay the €140.83 monthly benefit-in-kind floor; the Model Y Performance climbs to €179.97
  • The Model S and Model X can no longer be ordered new: the Belgian range comes down to two models and eight versions

By Christophe F., electric mobility expert ·

The best Tesla in Belgium is the Model 3 Premium Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive: €44,990 on the Belgian price list recorded on 15 October 2026, 750 km WLTP, 578 km in real use and the lowest consumption of the brand. For a family, the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive at €39,990 takes second place. The two Performance versions bring up the rear.

People often ask me "Model 3 or Model Y?", and it is the wrong question. At Tesla, the gap between two versions of the same model weighs more than the gap between the two bodies. A Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive and a Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive share the same shell, the same front seats and the same 15.4-inch screen; the second costs €9,000 more and goes 183 km further in real use. So I ranked the eight versions one by one, all recorded on the same day from the Belgian price list, rather than the two models as a block.

Model 3 or Model Y: which Tesla should you choose?

The Model 3 if you drive a lot and travel two or three up: it goes further, uses less energy and costs less, version for version. The Model Y if you carry children, a dog, a pushchair or a trailer: an 854 L boot, a tailgate and 1,600 kg of towing against 1,000 kg for the saloon.

Both cars share the platform, the motors and the electronics. Version for version, the Model Y costs €4,000 to €6,000 more and uses up to 1.6 kWh more per 100 km according to the Belgian price list (only the Performance bucks the trend, 16.2 against 16.5 kWh). The saloon keeps a conventional boot lid, which makes loading a bike or a large box awkward. The Model Y sits roughly 18 cm higher, and that changes everything when you strap in a child seat without folding yourself in half.

A word on names, because they changed in 2026. The Rear-Wheel Drive is the entry version, with a smaller battery and pared-back equipment. The Premium Long Range comes in Rear-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive (two motors). The Performance is the sporty dual-motor version. There is no longer a new Model S or Model X to order.

What criteria do you use to rank eight Teslas against each other?

Between two Teslas, charging hardly separates anything: six versions out of eight accept 250 kW, and all of them use the same Supercharger network. So I gave more weight to price and practicality, which really do split the versions. Five criteria, with a weighting specific to this ranking.

What is the best Tesla in Belgium in 2026?

The Model 3 Premium Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive wins because it combines the longest range, the lowest consumption and the BIK floor, at a price still under €45,000. • 750 km WLTP and 578 real km: the longest range in the whole Belgian line-up, 183 real km more than the entry Rear-Wheel Drive
  • 12.6 kWh/100 km, the lowest consumption of the eight versions, or €791 of electricity a year in Flanders
  • 250 kW DC and 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds on the price list
  • BIK floor of €140.83 a month, €4,302 below the €49,292 threshold, with the Premium equipment the Rear-Wheel Drive drops: 15 speakers instead of 7, rear screen, heated rear seats

What holds it back

It is a saloon with a boot lid, not a tailgate: a double pushchair or a bike goes in less easily than in a Model Y. Towing tops out at 1,000 kg. And the Belgian price list did not yet show BIK or regional taxes for this version on the day of the survey.

Best for

The commuter who drives from Brussels to Liège, Ghent or Arlon several times a week, and the company-car driver who wants the most kilometres without leaving the BIK floor.

  • 1,600 kg braked towing, 600 kg more than any Model 3
  • 13.1 kWh/100 km, barely more than the Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive

What holds it back

Rapid charging tops out at 175 kW, against 250 kW on every Long Range. Equipment has been trimmed: no panoramic roof, no front light bar, fabric seats adjusted through the screen. And the damping stays firm on Brussels cobbles.

Best for

A family that charges at home, carries two child seats and a dog, and does not want to go past €40,000.

  • BIK of €145.69 a month, just €4.86 above the floor

What holds it back

€11,000 more than the Rear-Wheel Drive for 68 more real km. And the Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive goes 99 km further for €6,000 less: if you can live without the boot, the saloon is the more rational buy.

Best for

The family that heads south every summer with a full boot, or tows a small caravan to the Ardennes.

  • LFP battery supplied by BYD, a chemistry that copes well with charging to 100%
  • 13.0 kWh/100 km, a figure Moniteur Automobile matched on the road, motorway included
  • Panoramic roof kept, unlike the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive

What holds it back

395 real km, the shortest range of the eight. Fabric seats, 7 speakers instead of 15, no rear screen or heated rear seats, and damping that filters less than the Premium's. Black or grey paint costs €1,300. The price list shows 572 km WLTP; we keep the more cautious 513 km from the Moniteur Automobile road test.

Best for

The driver who mostly covers town and suburbs, charges at home every night and wants a new Tesla under €36,000.

  • Same Premium equipment as the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive

What holds it back

Against the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, it costs €5,000 more, covers 70 fewer real km and uses 1.7 kWh more per 100 km. The price list gives it 716 km WLTP, a figure that does not add up with its 14.3 kWh and 79 kWh: we keep 660 km.

Best for

Someone who lives on the Ardennes heights or heads for the slopes every winter, and wants two motors without moving to an SUV.

Real-world range = WLTP × 0.77 (mixed Belgian use, winter, motorway 120 km/h). VAT-inclusive prices recorded on 15 October 2026 from the Belgian Moniteur Automobile price list, excluding options and discounts. Battery capacities as stated on the price list, except the Model Y Long Range (75 kWh net, Moniteur Automobile road test of 9 September 2025). Three range figures from the price list were set aside because they do not add up with the published consumption and battery: 572 km for the Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive (513 km kept, Moniteur Automobile road test of 24 April 2026), 716 km for the Model 3 Long Range All-Wheel Drive (660 km kept) and 622 km for the Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive (600 km kept, the figure in the same site's model overview). Braked towing from the price list. BIK calculated with the legal formula.

What does a Tesla cost in electricity, region by region?

Between €791 and €1,216 a year over 15,000 km. The first figure is the Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive in Flanders, the second the Model 3 Performance in Wallonia.

The calculation starts from each version's WLTP consumption, divided by 0.77 to get a usage consumption consistent with the real-world range. Multiply by 15,000 km, then by the electricity price caps set by the CREG, the federal energy regulator, for the third quarter of 2026: 32.22 c€/kWh in Flanders, 35.68 c€ in Brussels, 37.83 c€ in Wallonia.

The result goes against a common assumption. The cheapest Tesla to charge is not the cheapest to buy: it is the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, more frugal than the entry Rear-Wheel Drive (12.6 against 13.0 kWh). Picking a Performance over it costs €287 more in electricity every year in Wallonia, €1,148 over four years.

Basis: 15,000 km a year, home charging only, CREG price caps for the third quarter of 2026. A Supercharger costs noticeably more per kWh than a home socket, and the rate varies with time of day and subscription.

Which Tesla costs the least benefit in kind as a company car?

Three versions pay the €140.83 monthly floor: Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive, Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive and Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive. All of them stay under €49,292 of list value. The Model 3 Long Range All-Wheel Drive clears that threshold by €698 and comes out at €142.83.

The 2026 formula for an electric car is well known: list value × 4% × 6/7, with a floor of €1,690 a year. The Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive at €50,990 comes out at €145.69 a month, the All-Wheel Drive at €154.26, the Model 3 Performance at €164.26 and the Model Y Performance at €179.97. The latter therefore costs €470 a year more in BIK than the floor. The Moniteur Automobile price list publishes other amounts (€151.40 for the Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive, €142.83 for the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive, €177.11 and €188.54 for the two All-Wheel Drive versions) that we cannot reproduce with the legal formula: ask your fleet manager for the calculation before signing.

Regional taxes do not separate these cars. On the day of the survey, Moniteur Automobile shows for the versions it lists a registration tax (TMC) of €61.50 and an annual road tax of €92.93 in Brussels. Wallonia charges €107.18 of annual tax on every electric car from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027. Flemish amounts were not published for these versions on the day of the survey.

Three Teslas left out of the ranking, and why

  • Model S and Model X: Tesla announced the end of their production in the second quarter of 2026, and the Belgian price list now files them under former models. You can still find them in stock or used, but no longer as a new order.
  • Seven-seat Model Y: announced in February 2026, it did not appear on the Belgian price list on the day of the survey. No dated price, no ranking.
  • Cybertruck: it is not type-approved for sale in Europe. The examples spotted on Belgian roads are private imports.

Where do these figures come from?

Prices, ranges, consumption, power and towing figures come from the Belgian Moniteur Automobile price list, recorded on 15 October 2026, cross-checked with the same magazine's road tests. Electricity price caps come from the CREG. Tesla does not pay to appear here, and no link on this page is an affiliate link.

The questions that come up before ordering a Tesla

Answers with numbers, recorded in Belgium

Which is the best Tesla to buy in Belgium?
The Model 3 Premium Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, at €44,990 on the Belgian price list recorded on 15 October 2026. It offers 750 km WLTP, about 578 km in real use and the lowest consumption in the range, 12.6 kWh per 100 km, while paying the €140.83 monthly BIK floor. For a family, the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive at €39,990 is the best choice.
What is the cheapest Tesla in Belgium?
The Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive, at €35,990 on the Belgian price list of 15 October 2026. The Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive follows at €39,990. They are the only two new Teslas under €40,000, and both top out at 175 kW of rapid charging.
Model 3 or Model Y: which should a family choose?
The Model Y. Its tailgate, 854 L boot and 1,600 kg of braked towing change daily life with children, whereas the Model 3 keeps a boot lid and tops out at 1,000 kg. Version for version, it costs €4,000 to €6,000 more and uses a little more energy.
Which Tesla has the longest range?
The Model 3 Premium Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, with 750 km WLTP, or about 578 km in mixed Belgian use with motorway driving and heating. The longest-legged Model Y, the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, claims 622 km WLTP and about 479 real km.
Can you still buy a new Tesla Model S or Model X in Belgium?
No. Tesla announced the end of their production in the second quarter of 2026, and the Belgian price list now files them under former models. Stock, demonstrator and used cars remain, but no new orders.
Which Tesla should you pick as a company car?
Three versions pay the €140.83 monthly BIK floor: Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive, Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive and Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive. The Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive is the most interesting of the three, since it goes furthest without costing a cent more in BIK. The Model Y Performance climbs to €179.97 a month.
Is all-wheel drive worth the extra cost on a Tesla?
Rarely in Belgium. On the Model 3, the All-Wheel Drive costs €5,000 more than the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive and covers 70 fewer real km. It makes sense if you live in a hilly area where it snows every winter, or if you often tow on wet roads with a Model Y.
