Our review of the Kia EV6

The Kia EV6 Long Range is the fastest-charging electric SUV in its price bracket in Belgium. Its 800 V architecture takes the battery from 10 to 80% in 18 minutes on a 350 kW charger — enough time for a coffee while recovering 380 km of range. Starting at €44,990, it targets Belgian drivers who cover high mileage and want the shortest charging stops on the market.

Driving & comfort

The EV6 drives like a sporty coupé-SUV: the 160 mm ground clearance clears the speed humps and worn road surfaces of the Brussels ring without bottoming out, but it makes no claim to off-road ability. The steering is precise and light in the city, firm and reassuring on the E40 or E411 (Brussels–Luxembourg motorway) at 120 km/h. The 2,018 kg kerb weight makes itself felt in tight corners, and the snug front seats can restrict larger builds. Sound insulation above 80 km/h is excellent — wind and road noise stay muted on the motorway.

Daily charging

The 800 V architecture accepts up to 233 kW DC: at an Ionity or Fastned 350 kW charger (E40 Ghent, E411, E25 Liège–Embourg), the 10→80% charge takes 18 minutes, adding around 380 km of range. At the ABB Terra 50 kW chargers common in Belgian town centres, expect 60 to 70 minutes for the same result — the EV6 can't exploit its full potential there. At home on an 11 kW wallbox, 60 kWh charges in roughly 5h30. The Kia Connect app covers Ionity, Allego, Engie and EVBox for route-based charge planning.

Total cost of ownership

A driver covering 20,000 km/year saves roughly €1,400 to €1,800 in fuel compared with a comparable diesel SUV (EV6 ~19 kWh/100 km at €0.30/kWh vs 7 L diesel × €1.80). Belgium's TMC (registration tax) on EVs is fixed at €61.50 — essentially symbolic. As a company car, EVs ordered before end-2026 remain 100% tax-deductible; the benefit-in-kind (ATN/BIK) on a list price of €44,990 works out to around €270/month in 2026. Servicing through the Kia Belgium network (80+ dealers) runs €180–220/year. The 7-year / 150,000 km warranty (battery included, transferable) limits residual-value risk at the end of a lease.

Strengths
  • 10→80% in 18 min on a 350 kW charger: best charging speed in its price class
  • 420 km real-world mixed cycle; ~310 km in a Belgian winter (0–5°C, ADAC: 23.3 kWh/100 km)
  • 7-year / 150,000 km warranty covering vehicle and battery, transferable on resale
  • 100% company-car deductibility until end-2026; BIK ~€270/month
  • Tow bar available as an option (1,600 kg) for trailers or bike racks
Weaknesses
  • 490 L boot: 95 L less than the Skoda Enyaq at the same price
  • AC charging capped at 11 kW: no 22 kW option available on this model
  • 2,018 kg kerb weight: faster tyre wear to budget for
  • Starting price of €44,990: nothing below €40,000
Our verdict

For a Belgian driver covering 20,000 km/year who wants the shortest charging stops on the market, the EV6 has no equal under €55,000. The slightly tight boot and high entry price make it a better fit for active or company-car use than for families whose priority is space above all else.

Best for

High-mileage driver (20,000+ km/year), frequent user of Belgian and European motorways, company-car driver looking for maximum real-world availability.

Less suitable if…

Large family needing an XXL boot, low-mileage driver, or anyone with a budget below €42,000.

Kia EV6 in Belgium — what you need to know

Typical Belgian trips

With 420 real km, the EV6 covers Brussels–Ardennes (≈ 260 km return) without charging, Brussels–Coast (≈ 220 km return) without charging.

Tax benefit

For self-employed and companies, this model is 100% tax-deductible in 2026 (last year at this rate). No direct purchase grant for individuals. Road tax is greatly reduced for this EV.

Home charging

With 11 kW AC, a full charge from 20% takes approximately 6 hours on an 11 kW wallbox. On a 230V plug (2.3 kW): about 27 hours. Overnight charging easily covers the average 50–80 km/day.

FAQ

Frequently asked questionsKia EV6

What is the real-world range of the Kia EV6 in a Belgian winter?

In a Belgian winter (0 to 5°C), expect 300 to 330 km of real-world range from the Long Range RWD version. ADAC measures consumption of 23.3 kWh/100 km in its winter simulations, giving around 305 km from 77.4 kWh of usable battery. The standard heat pump limits the loss but does not eliminate it.

How long does it take to charge the Kia EV6 at a public charger?

At a 350 kW DC charger (Ionity, Fastned), the Kia EV6 goes from 10 to 80% in 18 minutes. At a 50 kW charger (ABB Terra, common in Belgian town centres), allow 60 to 70 minutes. On an 11 kW home wallbox, 60 kWh charges in around 5h30.

Is the Kia EV6 a good choice as a company car in Belgium in 2026?

Yes. EVs ordered before 31 December 2026 remain 100% tax-deductible for companies. The benefit-in-kind (BIK/ATN) on a list price of €44,990 works out to around €270/month in 2026. The 7-year / 150,000 km warranty provides reassurance on residual value at lease end.

What is the difference between the Kia EV6 RWD and AWD?

The RWD version (Long Range, 77.4 kWh) delivers ~420 km real-world range and DC charging up to 233 kW. The AWD version (GT Line) adds a second front motor for 325 hp at the cost of 30 to 40 km less range. In Belgium, the AWD version starts at around €55,000.

Is the Kia EV6's boot big enough for a family?

At 490 L it is fine for a couple or two young children, but it falls short of the Skoda Enyaq (585 L) or VW ID.4 (543 L). Fitting a travel-system pram or two large suitcases plus cabin bags will require some juggling.

Can the Kia EV6 tow a trailer in Belgium?

Yes, the EV6 is approved for 1,600 kg of trailer weight (all versions). The tow bar is an option (~€1,200). With a light trailer at 90 km/h, the range penalty is 25 to 35% depending on the load.

What warranty covers the Kia EV6's battery?

Kia offers 7 years or 150,000 km of full warranty (vehicle and battery) with a minimum capacity threshold of 70% of the original figure. The warranty is transferable on resale — a real advantage on the Belgian used-car market.
